Justin Clark

Research Technician, Environmental Science

Justin Clark has a bachelor’s degree in Microbiology and a master’s degree in Environmental Science from the University of Arizona. His master’s project was a two-year study on the Survival of Escherichia coli in sediments in Irrigation Water Canals. He has been working under Dr. Charles Gerba at the WEST Center for three years on a variety of projects primarily focusing on irrigation and drinking water quality and efficacy studies. He is currently a Research Technician at the WEST Center looking to continue and expand on his work in irrigation and drinking water quality and efficacy. He is looking forward to learning more advanced techniques in lab such as mammalian cell culture and QPCR. His interest in the environment stems from when he was always outside as a child. He loved hiking, walking/running, and just being outdoors and still does to this day! His passion for Microbiology was created when he took a Microbiology lecture and lab class taught by Dr. Wilbur at the UA and fell in love with it! He really enjoys working at the WEST Center because it is a combination of his two favorite disciplines: Microbiology and Environmental Science. His hobbies outside of work consist of reading, writing, playing video games, watching sports, painting, and taking care of his little cat Bailey. He loves living in the Tucson area because of the ample walking and hiking areas, the great food culture, and the beautiful views of the mountains!
