Visiting the WEST Center in mid-May 2018, representatives from the Yuma Safe Council came with keen interest in the application of new technologies to ensure food security and safe crop production. During their visit, the group toured the WEST Center and Pima County Wastewater Reclamation Facility. They also heard from University researchers working at WEST and through UA Cooperative Extension. WEST research is advancing new methods of water treatment and developing monitoring technology for real-time contaminant detection, areas of high importance to Yuma growers tasked with protecting the public’s health while providing safe, quality produce.
