The 2018 Arizona Water Reuse Symposium took place in late July in Flagstaff, AZ, with representatives from all aspects of the water reuse industry attending.  WEST members especially helped to shape this dynamic conference.

  • Presenters: Tim Thomure of Tucson Water presented information about the evolution, process, and stakeholders involved in the Santa Cruz River Heritage Project, while Dr. Channah Rock of the University of Arizona contributed her expertise related to developing technical recommendations for policy and fostering stakeholder participation in decision-making.  John Kmiec of Marana Water opened and closed activities as the Water Reuse Arizona Chapter President.
  • Awards: The Mobile Water Treatment Truck, a project of Pima County Wastewater and the University of Arizona, captured the "Best Project of the Year" award. Congratulations to Dr. Channah Rock, as well, recognized for her significant contributions as the previous Water Reuse Arizona Chapter President.
  • WEST joins the conversation: Faculty, staff, and students working at WEST Center participated in the Symposium, with UA WEST student, Christina Morrison, winning a WateReuse Arizona scholarship.

Many thanks to the organizers of a great Symposium, WateReuse Arizona and the Arizona Water Association.

Up next: Don't miss the National WateReuse Symposium in Austin, TX (Sept. 9-12, 2018).
