WateReuse Arizona recognized Christina Morrison at the AZ Water Reuse annual conference in Flagstaff, AZ with a $2,500 scholarship to continue studies at the University of Arizona’s Water & Energy Sustainable Technology (WEST) Center. Christina has strong interest in the fate and transport of viruses in treated wastewater effluent intended for various reuse purposes, and the need for improvement in virus detection technologies for such purposes due to low concentrations of viruses coupled with complex water matrices. She is one of only two recipients of the award this year, intended to encourage full-time students with a research focus on wastewater reclamation, water reuse, and/or desalination.

The mission of WateReuse Arizona is “To promote the responsible stewardship of Arizona’s water resources through education and advocacy for the best use of all water supplies.” Scholarships were awarded on the basis of a student’s sincere interest in pursuing a professional career related to the mission of WateReuse Arizona, as well as letters of recommendation, a personal statement, and academic achievement.
