UA Research Takes Center Stage at Annual Meeting
The WEST Center Annual Industry Meeting and Research Symposium, held Nov. 17-18, 2019, saw University of Arizona water and energy research take center stage. Faculty in Environmental Science, Chemical and Environmental Engineering, Public Health, and Hydrology and Atmospheric Sciences, spoke about the technology and approaches being developed to solve challenges of contaminant detection, water purification, and more.
During the event, water and wastewater utility and industry attendees heard from UA faculty, WEST member speakers, as well as students and postdocs during an afternoon poster fast-pitch session. Special speakers for the event included Dr. Betsy Cantwell, UA Senior Vice President for Research, Dave Dunaway, Groundwater Protection and Water Reuse Program Manager at AZ Department of Environmental Quality, and Rick Warner, the Program Manager for OneWater Nevada.
In addition to speakers and posters, the event offered attendees an opportunity to discuss shared interests and potential collaboration during social activities and breakout meetings.
