High School Interns Learn about Sustainability at WEST

KEYS interns from the University of Arizona explored topics of water and energy sustainability during a symposium delivered by WEST Center faculty, Dr. Luisa Ikner and Dr. Minkyu Park. Gathering at the WEST Center in late June 2018, the group also got an up-close look at WEST Center facilities during an on site tour.

The KEYS Research Internship, coordinated by UA's BIO5 Institute, is a unique summer opportunity for motivated Arizona high school students who have a strong interest in bioscience, engineering, environmental health, or biostatistics. During June 4 - July 20, 2018, KEYS interns are working side-by-side with top faculty in University of Arizona laboratories, acquiring skills and science literacy, and jumping into new experiences. Issues of sustainability, especially related to water, are of special interest in Arizona's arid environment.
