Desert Research Institute (DRI) Connects with WEST

In late June 2019, WEST Center was pleased to welcome Dr. Maureen McCarthy from the Desert Research Institute (DRI) based in Reno, Nevada.  Dr. McCarthy visited the WEST Center and spoke to a group of faculty, researchers, and students about her work as the Director of the Native Waters on Arid Lands Project.  She also toured the WEST Center facility and engaged in a small group discussion centered on appropriate water/energy technologies that might be used to address drinking water and energy challenges in dispersed settlements on native nations lands.

Good potential exists for the WEST Center and Desert Research Institute to collaborate on future projects to improve safety and living conditions in more rural areas of the US Southwest. More to come!
