Congressional Staffers Visit WEST

On March 14, 2019, WEST Center welcomed a group of congressional staffers to learn about state water policy issues and the innovative work being done at WEST Center. During the visit - organized by UA Federal Relations Director, Jenell Biggs - staffers learned about AZ water policy from Sharon Megdal, the Director of the Water Resources Research Center (WRRC). The group also had an opportunity to speak with UA Interim Vice President for Research, Kim Ogden, and tour the WEST facility with researchers Ian Pepper, Luisa Ikner, Minkyu Park, and Andrea Achilli.

Decisions at the local, state, and federal level will affect water safety and security for communities in Arizona and beyond. WEST is glad to be part of the conversation as we investigate solutions to address water scarcity and contamination challenges.
