WEST Center aims to support a sustainable environment by working with southwestern communities to ensure and demonstrate the safety and reliability of reclaimed water. The Center provides technical training and education to students from the University of Arizona and local high schools, as well as hosts visits and tours for organizations, classes, and other groups.
One opportunity from WEST Center, in partnership with the Pima County Regional Water Reclamation Department (RWRD) and Tucson Water, is the Citizen Water Academy. This program offers a comprehensive view of local water systems (wastewater, water, and innovations/research), and is available to schools and the general public on a set schedule.
Beyond youth and community education, WEST Center has the capacity to support area industry and create economic opportunity through technical and utility trainings, such as the RAPID short course for engineering professionals. Contact WEST Center to inquire about a tour, learn about youth internship opportunities, or work with the Center to develop a workshop or technical training.
